Amid heat wave, 49% turnout in Gujarat local body polls

The first general election in Gujarat after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) had a low voter turnout in urban areas compared to rural areas. The State Election Commission’s provisional data showed an average turnout of 49.02% in 15 municipal corporations, the highest in the last three elections.
