Assam to table Polygamy Prohibition Bill on Nov 25, says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam's cabinet has approved a bill to prohibit polygamy, with a seven-year jail term for offenders, excluding tribal communities in Sixth Schedule areas. The government will table the Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill 2025 in the upcoming assembly session. Additionally, the cabinet approved the Assam Startup and Innovation Policy 2025-30, allocating Rs 397 crore to foster entrepreneurship.
