Following the BJP-led Mahayuti’s decisive BMC victory, ending Shiv Sena’s 25-year rule, Mumbai is set to have a new mayor by the end of January. A lottery will determine the reserved category—general, women, or OBC/SC/ST—after which candidates can file nominations. BJP’s 89 seats and alliance strength make it likely to install the city’s first Mahayuti mayor.
