CDS Anil Chauhan Warns Nuclear Sabre-Rattling By World Powers Threatens Global Peace And Stability

India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has issued one of the strongest strategic warnings of the decade, cautioning that reckless nuclear sabre-rattling by world powers does not augur well for global peace. Speaking at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue, the CDS said the world is entering a more violent, unstable and technologically accelerated era where even a single strategic miscalculation could have national or global consequences. Chauhan highlighted that nuclear treaties are collapsing, Russia’s underwater nuclear systems are reshaping doctrine, and rising Chinese aggression is altering regional security frameworks. He warned that future wars will be multi-domain — fought across land, space, cyber, deep sea and information networks. Citing Operation Sindoor as an example of expanded battlespace, he stressed India must strengthen preparedness, invest in next-generation technologies and enhance resilience to counter emerging threats. His message was clear: global instability is rising, and India must stay ready.
