China probes top general for serious violations amid Xi Jinping's military purge

The Chinese Defence Ministry said on Saturday that General Zhang Youxia, vice-chairman of the powerful Central Military Commission (CMC), is under investigation, adding that another senior officer, General Liu Zhenli, chief of staff of the CMC’s Joint Staff Department, is also being probed.
