General Dhiraj Seth Takes Over As Indian Army Chief, Marking Armoured Corps Leadership Return After Nearly 3 Decades

General Dhiraj Seth has taken over as the Chief of Army Staff, succeeding retiring COAS General Upendra Dwivedi. An Armoured Corps officer, he is the first from the combat arm to lead the Army since 1997. With nearly 40 years of service, he has held key operational and strategic roles. His tenure till August 2028 is expected to focus on modernisation, theatre commands, and border readiness.
