Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 6: The mandate of the global CTO is undergoing a critical shift as AI moves from experimentation to enterprise-wide transformation. According to McKinsey, more than three-quarters of organisations now use AI in at least one business function, with generative AI adoption accelerating rapidly across industries. At the same time, Gartner reports that 70% of technology leaders consider generative AI a game-changing technology, and nearly 45% of CIOs are now co-leading digital initiatives alongside business leaders, signalling a move from pure IT oversight to enterprise strategy. This shift is redefining the CTO's role from managing infrastructure to orchestrating data, AI, and innovation across the value chain. As companies race to capture the economic potential of generative AI - estimated by McKinsey to create $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion in annual value globally, technology leaders are increasingly expected to shape business outcomes, not just technology architectures.
