India among top 10 nations with largest forest carbon sinks: FAO report

India is a global leader in forest carbon sinks. The nation absorbs approximately 150 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. This places India among the top ten countries worldwide. Forests globally are removing significant amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
