India Bets Big On Public Digital Infrastructure Model For AI With BharatGen

India will launch PARAM-2, a 17-billion-parameter multilingual AI model, at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Developed under the BharatGen programme supported by the Department of Science and Technology, the sovereign model supports 22 Indian languages and is trained on India-focused datasets to strengthen data sovereignty and governance applications.
