Palampur resident keeps shawl weaving craft alive

At a time when most young people are gravitating towards modern, technology-driven careers, traditional handloom weaving is steadily fading from rural life. The rhythmic sound of looms, once common in village households and a key source of livelihood, is now rarely heard. Amid this decline, Ram Lal, a resident of Darati village in Palampur subdivision of Kangra district, has spent over three decades preserving the traditional art of shawl weaving. With limited resources but unwavering dedication, he has not only mastered the craft but also continued to practise it with pride.
