Losing a job can take a toll on both finances and mental health, but psychologists say one belief can make recovery easier: confidence in your ability to cope with challenges. A 2024 study found that people with higher psychological coping self-efficacy experienced better emotional well-being during unemployment, while earlier research on the JOBS program showed that combining job-search training with emotional coping skills led to better reemployment and mental health outcomes even two years later.
