Researchers are now linking eye health to heart health, suggesting that retinal scans could help predict cardiovascular risk much earlier. A study in Science Advances, highlighted by Prevention, examined retinal images from over 74,000 people and found that simpler, less branched retinal vessels were associated with higher inflammation, greater heart disease risk and shorter lifespan.
