Sun Tzu, who flourished in the 5th century BCE, was a Chinese military strategist and the reputed author of the Chinese classic ‘The Art of War, the earliest known treatise on war and military science. ‘The Art of War is one his most notable works. He served the state of Wu near the end of the Spring and Autumn period (770–476 BCE) as a general.
