In a recent family vlog, actor Shoaib Ibrahim's "bizarre" breakfast combination of uttapam with sambar and a 3-4 egg white omelette sparked discussion in it, particularly as he explained it was a shift from his post-hospital routine of chai-paratha or omelette-paratha, aiming to increase protein intake without regular gym workouts. Consultant dietitian Kanikka Malhotra affirmed that this meal provides a good balance of protein and nutrients for non-active days, with egg whites, sambar lentils, and fermented uttapam batter contributing a sufficient 14-22g of protein for sedentary individuals. However, Malhotra cautioned that relying solely on egg whites limits essential micronutrients found in yolks, emphasizing the importance of varied protein sources and whole foods for balanced nutrition and long-term health, advocating for protein diversity and enjoyable, nutrient-rich meals over narrow, repetitive food choices.
