The European Union is increasingly viewing Northeast India as a fast-growing economic region and a promising destination for business and investment. EU Ambassador Hervé Delphin said the region should no longer be seen as peripheral but as part of India’s economic core, citing strong GDP growth and emerging opportunities in sectors such as flavours, fragrances and IT. He added that the EU is also exploring deeper cooperation with India through the proposed free trade agreement, which both sides aim to sign later this year and bring into force by early 2027.
